Facing the team from New York, the Hollidaysburg Little League team won 7-1 today.
Continuing to fight their way through the elimination bracket, Hollidaysburg will play either Great Lakes champion Hagerstown, Indiana, or Southeast champion Nolensville, Tennessee on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m. at Lamade Stadium. The game will be available on ESPN.
Here is the inning by inning highlights:
6TH INNING: Hanley takes over pitching for Bieikers. Link leads off the inning for Hollidaysburg, but pops up Beikers at shortstop. Detrick gets his third hit of the day, lined to right field. Hatch pops out to Badagliacca, followed by a ground out by Rabel. Hollidaysburg looks to close it out in the bottom of the 6 up 7-1.
Clark grounds out to McGough, one out. Flyout by Liam St. George gets the second out. Stike out ends the game, Hollidaysburg wins 7-1!
5TH INNING: Boob leads off the top half of the 5th for Hollidaysburg. After a strikeout, Metzger gets an infield single followed by a sacrifice bunt. Anderson reaches with a walk, but McGough strikes out, ending the top of the 5th.
Anderson continues to deal in the bottom of the 5th striking out Alex Pagano and Mikey Castellano to start the inning. A pop-up to center ends the inning. 7-1 Hollidaysburg going into the 6th.
4TH INNING: Jackson Boob lines one to third, but a great snag by Clark keeps him off the bases. Easton Metzger then strikes out. Nathan Phillips gets a nice two-out single up to center. Anderson gets one up the middle, recorded as an error putting two on with two outs. McGough draws a walk, bringing up Link. Bekiers taking over on the mound. The game enters weather delay. After about an hour delay, the game resumes. Link lines one into left, getting two RBI. Hollidaysburg up 5-1. Detrick doubles to center, McGough and Link score, and Hollidaysburg up 7-1 to end the top of the 4th.
After a ground out, Brendan Hanley gets an infield single. Anthony Badagliacca grounds into a fielder’s choice, two outs in the bottom of the 4th. Bekiers keeps the inning alive with a single to left. Inning ends with a popout to left, Hollidaysburg still up 7-1.
3RD INNING: Aspen Anderson starts off the 3rd with a lead-off single. Tyler McGough follows that up with a single. Two on, no outs. Chase Link hits a bomb! Three-run home run Hollidaysburg leads 3-1! Following the homerun, Lionetti gets a strikeout, ground out and line out to end the inning. Hollidaysburg up 3-1.
Bekiers draws a lead-off walk to start the bottom of the 3rd. After two flyouts, two straight hit-by pitches, loading the bases. Anderson takes the mound for Hollidaysburg and strikes out Clark to end the inning.
2ND INNING: Lionetti continues to deal, shutting down Hollidaysburg 1,2,3.
Ryan Huksloot gets a lead-off double to start the second for New York. Dull settles and strikes out Michael Clark. A fielder’s choice and an error brought home Huksloot. New York leads 1-0. Danny Fregara singles to center. Hollidaysburg gets out of the inning down 1-0.
1ST INNING: Joey Lionetti is on the mound for New York. After two quick outs, Caleb Detrick gets a single to center. Braden Hatch takes a swing at the first pitch, dropping in a single to right field. Detrick moves to third. Lionetti however strikes out Beau Rabel, ending the top half of the first.
Brody Dull on the mound for Hollidaysburg. Christian Bekiers draws a walk to lead off the bottom of the first. Dull followed that up with a great breaking ball for a strikeout. He then got out of the inning with another strikeout and a pop-up, leaving the first tied at 0.

Hollidaysburg Little League
Hollidaysburg advanced to its first-ever Little League World Series by going 3-1 in the Mid-Atlantic region. Defeating Washington D.C. 7-3 in the first game, they fell to Delaware in game two 5-4. They bounced back though, defeating Washington D.C. 13-0 and got revenge against Delaware, winning 7-3. On Thursday, Aug. 19, Hollidaysburg lost round one to Pearland Texas 8-3. On Saturday, Aug. 20, Hollidaysburg continued their fight, defeating Middleboro, Massachusett 7-5 to advance in the tournament.
