McCaskey snaps 42-game losing streak

Last weekend, during week 7 of the football season, McCaskey snapped a 42-game league losing streak with a 34-28 victory in overtime over Reading High in a Lancaster-Lebanon Section 1 game Friday at Lancaster.

The Red Tornado (1-2, 2-5) needed five touchdown passes from Jalen Cintron and a goal-line stand in OT to beat the Red Knights (0-4, 1-6).

McCaskey got the ball first in overtime and scored on a 12-yard pass from Cintron to Joshua Morales-Monzon.

On its possession, Reading High drove to the 1, but was stuffed on fourth down.

The Tornado took a 14-0 lead on an 11-yard pass from Cintron to Morales-Monzon and a 15-yard pass from Cintron to DeAndre Jones.

Gabriel Laws scored on a 9-yard run in the first quarter for the Red Knights, then Reading tied it in a 5-yard run by Alexis Alvarado on the first play of the second quarter.

Cintron completed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Jones with 15 seconds left in the first half. McCaskey led 20-14 after the two-point conversion run failed.

A 13-yard touchdown run by Laws and Jondre Murcia-Guzman’s extra point gave the Red Knights a 21-20 lead.

The Tornado retook the lead on a 14-yard pass from Cintron to Quimeak Talton. Morales-Monzon two-point conversion run made it 28-21.

Reading High tied it on Cameron Small’s 5-yard run with 4:53 left.
