At one of the most storied tracks in the country, our McCaskey Red Tornado 4×100 relay team made their mark and then some!
In their first-ever experience at the Penn Relays, junior Damani Crosson, freshmen Ella Petrosky and Alondra Grover, and sophomore Corrine Miller clocked a blazing 47.40 on Friday then came back Saturday, ran through rain and puddles, and shattered the Lancaster-Lebanon League Northeast record with a 47.12 finish, winning the prestigious Northeast final!
From clean handoffs to fearless execution, these young women showed that no stage is too big when you believe in yourself and each other. Their time wasn’t just a win, it would have placed them ninth overall in the elite Championship of America field and marked the fifth-fastest U.S. high school time in the 400 relay on Saturday.
Coach Derek Jennings said it best:
“There are hundreds of teams that run the 4×100 at the Penn Relays. To win it going away like they did shows just how special these girls are. Unreal!”
We are beyond proud of Damani, Ella, Alondra, Corrine, and Coach Jennings for representing McCaskey and the School District of Lancaster with heart, hustle, and history in the making.
The postseason is just getting started and the sky is truly the limit.
