PIAA-5A BASEBALL:
Elizabethtown lost to Upper Dublin 1-0 in the PIAA Class 5A baseball semifinals, ending their season. The game went into extra innings, with Upper Dublin scoring the winning run in the top of the eighth. This loss concludes Elizabethtown’s season and their three-game winning streak. Upper Dublin advances to the state championship game against Shaler Area.
Upper Dublin’s win bumped their record up to 12-5-1. As for Elizabethtown, they moved to 16-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Coming up, Upper Dublin will take on Shaler Area at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 2.3, the Titans 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Elizabethtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
The Bears played Lampeter-Strasburg who beat them 4-0 in the District 3 semifinals.
