In a close one, the Cocalico Eagles defeated the Donegal Indians 2-1 Wednesday in Section Three battle.
Donegal still remains in second place in Section Three, which is an L-L League playoff positio. They are 2 games behind first place Manheim Central. Cocalico remans in third place in Section Three.
Donegal watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 2-1 loss to Cocalico on Wednesday. Cocalico took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the second inning.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Cocalico pitchers struck out 16, while Donegal Indians Varsity sat down five.
Cocalico fired up the offense in the second inning. Tyler Angstadt’s sac fly scored one run for Cocalico.
Trent Dickson pitched Cocalico to victory. The fireballer went seven innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out 16 and walking one.
Caden Evans took the loss for Donegal Indians Varsity. The righthander lasted six innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out five.
Brock Hammaker, Alex Eisenberger, and Landon Sexton each collected one hit to lead Donegal Indians Varsity.
Cocalico was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Matt Fox had the most chances in the field with 15.
